Job description

GfK. Growth from Knowledge

GfK turns data into smart business decisions for clients.

Can there be a better place to take center stage in the digital revolution?

Market research is the original data driven business. For GfK everything starts and ends with data. Arisen from a university spin-off, decades of specialized research results in tens of thousands of high quality data sets encompassing all industries, regions and time frames from simple surveys to complex cross-media audience measurement studies. In order to turn that data into knowledge it takes engineers, scientists and consultants to collaborate globally using the best data science technology stack imaginable.

Don't limit your possibilities, but join our mission: Winning strategies. Innovation. Expertise. Trust. We turn research into smart business solutions. GfK. Powered by passion.

For our Point of Sales (PoS) tracking business, software engineering is not only an enabler, but its DNA: Our Business Application StarTrack processes and harmonizes data of 15 Million products of 425.000 shopping outlets worldwide. One of the finest business intelligence engines provides customers with millions of reports and continuous online analytics.

You still think Market Research is about questionnaires aggregated with Excel?

80TB raw data, 500TB Storage, high-end technology, several Superdomes servers with hundreds of CPUs each to process up to 40b fact records for analytics is our daily business. And we are growing by 20-30% per year.

GfK's exciting StarTrack NEO Platform provides a new generation of Data Backend, Tools and Dashboards for Researchers and Clients to gain fresh and actionable "Point of Sale" insights. Furthermore NEO aims for intensified and more tailored interaction with our clients driving client value from GfK data to new levels.

Are you ready for a real data and analytics challenge? Then complete our StarTrack NEO team as our next passionate DevOps Engineer (m/f) to join our exciting journey!

As a DevOps Engineer in NEO you are responsible for managing and setting up the infrastructure for our Business Application back ends and frontends in the area of StarTrack Reporting and Business Intelligence. You are contributing to our powerful home-grown Analytics and Reporting Platform for Point Of Sales Market Research. You are collaborating with our teams in Germany and other countries to develop all related backend and frontend applications.

Make a difference every day because you

  • enjoy setting up infrastructures by coding them
  • are interested in using the latest technologies (Kubernetes, Docker) for automating our infrastructure
  • drive continuous integration in close cooperation with our developers
  • enjoy designing a fully automated infrastructure setup in several independent environments
  • automate software installation and distribution
  • develop and extend our existing artifact repository
  • develop concepts for bringing our applications into the cloud

Requirements

We are looking for great team players who first of all share our passion for data and our own business applications to drive the future of technology based Market Research.
