As Backend Developer (m/f) in NEO you are responsible for the development of our Business Application back ends in the area of StarTrack Reporting and Business Intelligence. You are contributing to our powerful home-grown Analytics and Reporting Platform for Point Of Sales Market Research. You are collaborating with our teams in Germany and other countries to develop all related backend and frontend applications.

  • enjoy designing and implementing a service based, distributed and highly scalable backed for our interactive dashboards
  • implement web services and batch applications in the backend in close cooperation with our frontend specialists
  • maintain  our existing applications in the area of reporting
  • analyze and eliminate performance bottlenecks in our applications
  • create and execute unit tests and integration tests based on standardized frameworks
  • integrate your solutions into the continuous delivery process
  • work closely together with our teams in Malaysia and Bulgaria
  • analyze and resolve system problems (3rd level support)
  • perform effort estimations
  • take care of software quality and standards in software engineering
  • plan and conduct technology selection and proof of concepts


​We are looking for great team players who first of all share our passion for data and our own business applications to drive the future of technology based Market Research.

A pragmatic hands-on working style with a positive can-do attitude is key essential for us.

In addition, your experience typically includes:

  • Diploma in Computer-Science or comparable working experience
  • 5+ years relevant job experience in the development of service oriented applications based on REST / HATEOAS
  • experience in data modelling
  • working knowledge in Java EE / Spring Framework
  • experience in handling large amounts of data (ideally previous experience in Spark / Hadoop)
  • knowledge in NOSQL databases, SQL- / RDBMS, JPA, Hibernate
  • experience in developing unit tests (TDD / JUnit)
  • knowledge of AWS
  • working knowledge in object oriented modelling and design with UML
  • Excellent English skills both verbally and written
  • Not mandatory, but a plus:
    • experience in REDIS and Key-Value Stores
    • experience in working in an agile set-up (e.g. Scrum)
    • experiences in APIs for data intensive applications
